MatchHex is mahjong solitaire built on hexagons. Clear a layered board by matching free pairs of tiles, each one faced with the artwork of a room aboard the Haunted Space Hotel: the Action Room, the Upgraded Action Room and the Weakness Room of all six factions.
A tile is free when nothing covers it and one of its sides is open. Take the pairs you can see, and keep the ones you are going to need later. The tiles are real 3D pieces under a perspective camera, so a stack reads as a stack: turn the board with the arrows or a drag and look at it from another side.
The Deep, the Stem, the Hex, the Dread, the Honored and the Seed each hold three boards, and each one plays on its own ground. Eighteen layouts in all, from the classic Turtle, Pyramid and Fortress through Spire, Ziggurat and Cairn to Halo.
Boards are generated from a seed and solved before they are dealt, so a board you cannot finish is one you played into a corner, never one you were handed. Take a hint when you want to know a safe move exists, undo and redo when you would rather not have, and shuffle when you are genuinely stuck.
